Mozart disembark in the village of Ericeira this weekend!

As part of the Música ConVida Artist Residency cycle, the Ensemble Entreolhares presents
a cicle of concerts dedicated to the figure of Mozart.

This Saturday and Sunday, August 13th and 14th, at 11:30, at the Casa de Cultura Jaime Lobo e Silva, two family concerts will take place.

Also in Ericeira, on Saturday the 13th of August at 21:30, there is a concert by candlelight in the Church of São Pedro.

In these three moments, some of the most emblematic works of the Viennese composer will be performed.
“The particularity of this musical proposal is the fact that it brings the younger audience closer to the instruments of the composer’s time. In addition to the string quartet – Nuno Mendes and Lígia Vareiro on violins, Madalena Melo on violet and Pedro Massarrão on cello –, we have the collaboration of two interpreters, Vitor Bragança and Lurdes Carneiro, on historic clarinet and bassoon respectively”, explains Nuno Mendes. , the artistic director.

The Música ConVida artistic residencies are a proposal by the Entrolhares Association, immediately welcomed by the Mafra City Council, which provides the Auditorium of the Casa de Cultura Jaime Lobo e Silva one week a month for the creation of multidisciplinary shows that have music as a structural element. The novelty of the artistic residency in August is the candlelight concert, a proposal that Father Tiago Fonseca, from the Church of São Pedro, received with enthusiasm.

Tickets for the shows at the Casa de Cultura cost €7 and, to encourage the presence of the younger audience, those under 14 pay only the symbolic value of €1. The candlelight concert at the Church of São Pedro is a solidarity concert and the value of donations from the public is intended solely and exclusively to pay the interpreters. “At the moment, the box office is the only source of funding for these activities, which means an effort and a commitment by the artists involved in bringing culture closer to new audiences”, emphasizes Nuno Mendes.

Supporting the production of these artistic proposals is Ericeira Cultural Factory. A newly born project, incubated at Ericeira Business Factory, created by a group of resident artists to dynamize, enrich and promote cultural variety in the municipality of Mafra. Ericeira Cultural Factory’s focus is to create and consolidate a platform to enhance artistic activity in our territory through synergies and collaborations between creators, institutions and the public. Its mission is to promote meetings, festivals, exhibitions and enrich the experience of the local public and the tourist public in our county.

“In the future, we intend to provide training and support to the cultural community in order to prepare artists to better present and develop their projects, contact the public and promote their works, while creating a more active and closer cultural movement. Thus, we develop the territory and cultural tourism by working with different artistic styles, starting from an eclectic approach”, says Andreia Félix, one of the promoters of Ericeira Cultural Factory.

This year, four more artistic residencies are planned for Música ConVida at the Casa de Cultura Jaime Lobo e Silva in Ericeira on Saturdays at 11:30 am to September 10, October 8, November 12 and December 10. As with previous shows held under this initiative, the next ones will feature music and theatre.
